The shingle church, Paanukirkko, is a modern construction with traditional methods. The buiders were mostly volunteers and they closely followed the 18th century construction methods. The church has become an international tourist attraction.
Next to Paanukirkko there is summer cafe maintained by the Paanukirko Support Association. In the café you can watch videos about building the church, enjoy tasty coffee and traditional pastries. There are also authentic, handcrafted souvenirs made by the locals..
